The Beatles Take North America in 1964

I still remember the Beatles appearance in North America in 1964, 50 years ago, on the Ed Sullivan show.  We had one black and white TV at the time but I don't remember watching the show live.  But after that weekend, the atmosphere in the schoolyard changed.  I was in the first grade and suddenly we all wanted to run around yelling "She Loves You Yeah Yeah Yeah".  Within a few months, there were a few Beatles haircuts on the cooler boys, causing letters to be sent home to parents on grooming rules for school.  Back then we still had corporal punishment via "the strap" so there was a lot of schoolyard discussion over whether you would get strapped for long hair or just sent home.  Guitars and drum sets appeared in friend's homes who had older brothers with aspirations to be rock and roll stars.  The rest is history.
